Privacy.
Short version. We do not have accounts. We do not track you. We do not sell anything to anyone. Your name and favourites live on your own device, never on our servers.
What stays on your device
If you tell us your name on the profile page, your name is saved in your browser using localStorage. It is on your phone or laptop, and nowhere else. We cannot see it. Clear your browser and it is gone.
The same is true for any lesson you favourite. We do not send the favourite to a server. It is stored in your browser only.
What does happen on our servers
When you press Play on a lesson for the first time ever, our system generates the song. This means we make calls to AI services to write the lyrics and create the music. We do not pass your name, your favourites, your device details, or your IP address to those services in the request. We just send the lesson topic. The song is then saved publicly on our storage so the next student who clicks the same lesson hears the same song instantly.
Our hosting provider may automatically log basic request information like the time of the request and a country, the way any website does. We do not use this for analytics, advertising, or profiling. We do not have an analytics platform installed.
No cookies banner
You may have noticed there is no cookie banner. That is because we do not use cookies. Cookies trigger consent banners under UK law. localStorage, which is what we use, does not require a banner when it is used only for the function the user is using (saving their name and favourites).
Under 13
StudyBeats does not collect personal data. There is no signup form, no email field, no login. Students of any age can use the site without registering. If you are a parent or guardian and want to be sure nothing is stored about your child, ask them to use the site in their browser's private or incognito window. localStorage in private windows is cleared when the window closes.
Schools and teachers
You can share StudyBeats with classes without setting up accounts, signing data agreements, or filling in DPIA paperwork, because we do not process student personal data. Students can use the site immediately.
If something changes
If we ever start collecting data, for example to support accounts or to remember favourites across devices, we will update this page first and ask before doing so. We will not change the rules quietly.
